General Criteria
In considering the award of Life Membership, an individual should have demonstrated significant, sustained and quality service enhancing the reputation and future of the Club.
The points to be taken into account when considering any nomination should include:
the general attitude and overall demeanour of the nominee to ensure that the attitude is one that reflects a dedication to the values of the Club;
valued leadership and good role modelling that reflects positively upon the Club; and
a love of rugby, particularly inclusive community rugby.
These points apply in whatever role the nominee has participated in during his or her service in the Club.
Special Criteria
All nominees for Life Membership must have met the following criteria:
The nominee must have at least 10 years’ service to the Club
The nominee must have given extra meritorious service to the Club in this time. The Board retains the right to apply its discretion in determining extra meritorious service, however “extra meritorious service” will typically include a period of service on the Board as well as being regularly involved in the running of club or coaching and generally a nominee will have provided service “above and beyond” what is expected of all Members involved.
Nominations for Life Membership may be made by a Financial Member of the Club and must be submitted in writing to the Secretary 20 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.
· Nominations should include the Financial Member's reasons for putting forward the candidate for Life Membership.
· No person shall be accepted for a Life Membership vote at an AGM unless they have at least 80 percent of the votes from the current Board. The Board will take into consideration views from current Life Members.
The Board will present all nominations that meet the criteria to the Annual General Meeting for resolution.
Life Members of the Club may be appointed by a simple majority vote at the Annual General Meeting.
Life Members are encouraged to remain involved in the Club and attend home games, if possible, and play a role to pass on the history of Old Barker Rugby Club to current players and members.
These guidelines are subject to change at the Board’s discretion.
